Equipment guide
A steam autoclave sterilises by saturated steam under pressure, typically 121 °C or 134 °C. Choose chamber volume by the largest load, then match the cycle type (solids, liquids, waste, drying) and control level to your quality requirements.

Size to your largest regular load plus working margin. Benchtop units suit small labs; vertical and larger chambers suit media and waste.
Look for liquid cycles with slow exhaust, solid and instrument cycles, drying, and a validated waste cycle if you handle biological waste.
Programmable cycles, F0 control and printed or logged records support quality systems and audits.
Check power, water quality (distilled or demineralised) and drainage. Poor water shortens heater and chamber life.
Door interlocks, over-pressure and over-temperature protection, and a service plan for periodic pressure-vessel inspection.
Each range is supplied with installation, operator training and local service.
A common cycle is 121 °C for 15–20 minutes for media and many loads, or 134 °C for shorter holds on instruments. Always validate the cycle for your load size and container type.
Liquids can boil over if pressure drops quickly. A liquids cycle exhausts slowly so containers do not erupt, and uses a load-appropriate hold time.
