Equipment guide
A freeze dryer removes water from a frozen product under vacuum by sublimation, preserving structure and activity without heat damage. Size it by the ice load per batch (kg of water), the condenser temperature your product needs, and whether you dry on shelves or on a manifold.

Condenser capacity (kg of ice per batch) sets how much product you can dry per run. Calculate from the water content of a full load, not the product weight.
Around −55 °C suits most aqueous samples; solvent-containing or low-eutectic products need colder condensers or solvent-resistant designs.
Shelf drying in vials or trays gives uniform results and controlled heating. Manifold drying with flasks suits bulk, quick, routine work.
For development and GMP work, look for pressure-controlled drying, data logging and validation support, so cycles are repeatable and documented.
Choosing a range that runs from laboratory to pilot to production keeps cycle parameters transferable as the product grows.
Each range is supplied with installation, operator training and local service.
Estimate the water to be removed per batch (volume × water fraction), choose a condenser with at least that ice capacity plus margin, then match shelf area or manifold ports to your vial or flask format and batch frequency.
Laboratory units suit research quantities and routine drying. Pilot units are built for process development: larger shelf area, controlled shelf temperature and pressure, and data suitable for scaling to production.
Yes. Al-Shaker supplies Martin Christ freeze dryers and RVC vacuum concentrators with installation, operator training and service support across Jordan and MENA.
