Overview

Product overview

The RMT-FA398 is a fully automated rotary microtome for paraffin and conventional sectioning. Section thickness is set from 0.25 to 100 μm in graded increments starting at 0.25 μm, trimming from 1 to 600 μm, and retraction from 0 to 50 μm. Specimens up to 39 × 40 mm are held with a horizontal feed of 28 mm and a vertical stroke of 70 mm.

An intelligent feed system switches quickly between manual and automatic sectioning, with continuously adjustable automatic speed and slow and fast feed rates of 1500 and 3500 μm/s. A precision screw mechanism drives the feed, and a green digital display shows section thickness, trimming thickness and speed. The automatic controller can be placed on either side, and semi-automatic sectioning remains available when it is off.

Safety features include emergency braking, alarms, drive overload protection and auto-sleep. The hand wheel locks in any position, the blade holder moves laterally to use the full blade length, a red guard covers the blade, and specimen clamps for paraffin blocks or cassettes change quickly.
