DMA-5 and DMA-5P Direct Mercury Analyzers

The DMA-5 Series determines mercury in solid, liquid and gas samples by electrothermal evaporation, gold amalgam enrichment and cold vapor atomic absorption spectroscopy (CVAAS). Samples are dried and decomposed in an oxygen atmosphere, mercury is reduced in a catalytic combustion tube, trapped on a nano-gold-plated amalgamation tube and then released to a 253.7 nm detector. No chemical pretreatment is needed, which avoids cross contamination and memory effects.

The DMA-5 covers 0 to 1000 ng with long and short absorption cells and a 0.005 ng detection limit, while the DMA-5P adds an ultra-long cell for a 0.001 ng limit. Repeatability is RSD below 1.0% at 1 ng, analysis takes about 5 minutes per sample, and up to 1500 mg of solid or 1500 µL of liquid can be introduced from a 100-position autosampler.
