Product overview
The POL-DISC4II is a classic visual polarimeter for measuring the optical activity of substances such as sugars, pharmaceuticals and organic compounds. The user aligns the optical field by hand to determine the angle of rotation produced by the sample, reading the result on a disc with a 1° main scale and a vernier giving 0.05° resolution across a ±180° range.
A sodium lamp provides light at 589 nm, and a 4× magnifier makes the scale easy to read. Standard 100 mm and 200 mm sample tubes are supplied for different sample concentrations.
Without automated functions, the instrument is simple to operate and maintain, and its hands-on principle makes it well suited to education, training and fundamental research. It weighs 5 kg, measures 435 × 135 × 320 mm and runs on 220 V, 50 Hz.
