Automated Roll Heat Sealer (formerly a4S)

The Automated Roll Heat Sealer, previously sold as the a4S, applies heat seals from a roll to SBS-footprint plates for medium to high-throughput labs and fully automated systems. It needs no compressed air, so it can stand alone on a bench or sit inside a robotic workcell, and both roll positions allow it to fit under the gantry of most liquid handlers.

It seals all PCR formats from 96 to 1536 wells, assay plates, deep-well storage plates and racked tubes, with plate heights from 3 to 60 mm. Temperature (100-195 °C) and time (0.1-10 s) are adjustable, sealing pressure is fixed for reproducible results, and a cycle takes under 15 seconds. Up to 5,000 seals can be applied without reloading, and a standby mode saves energy.

A color touchscreen stores unlimited password-protected protocols across three security levels. For automation, the full RS-232 command set and an optional SiLA driver allow plug-and-play integration with readers, robot arms and liquid handlers. Typical uses include qPCR evaporation control, cell-based assay plates and long-term compound storage with DMSO-resistant seals.
