FrameStar 96 Well Skirted PCR Plate
Request a quoteOverview
FrameStar plates combine thin-walled polypropylene wells with a rigid polycarbonate frame. The frame prevents the warping and distortion that can occur during thermal cycling, reduces thermal expansion and evaporation, and keeps the plate flat for robotic handling and reliable sealing.
This skirted 96-well version has low-profile wells with 200 µl total capacity, recommended for reactions under 20 µl. The shorter wells reduce dead space under the heated lid, limiting condensation on the well walls and helping reaction efficiency in PCR and qPCR. An alphanumeric grid aids sample identification and the plate fits standard multichannel pipettes.
Options include several frame colors, white wells for fluorescence work, an extra-rigid skirt for automation systems from Hamilton, Beckman and others, ethylene oxide treated plates for forensic use, ultra-low DNA binding plates and custom barcoding. Azenta publishes a compatibility table covering cyclers from Bio-Rad, Eppendorf, Analytik Jena and other makers.
