Overview

Product overview

3% Sodium Chloride Triple Sugar Iron Agar is a biochemical identification medium for Vibrio parahaemolyticus. It combines three sugars (lactose, sucrose and glucose), ferrous sulfate, sodium thiosulfate and phenol red with 30 g/L sodium chloride. Final pH is 7.4±0.2.

Weigh 89.5 g into 1 L of distilled water and heat with stirring until dissolved. Dispense generously into test tubes, sterilize at 121 °C for 15 minutes and let the tubes solidify as deep agar slants. Dehydrated powder (GF1072F) and granulated (KL1072F) forms both have a 3-year sealed shelf life.
