7.5% Sodium Chloride Broth is listed for the enrichment of Staphylococcus aureus. As the name indicates, it contains 75.0 g/L of sodium chloride in a simple peptone and beef extract base, giving a high-salt selective environment.
The powder is prepared at 88.0 g per litre of purified water, boiled to dissolve, distributed into flasks and autoclaved at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Final pH is 7.2±0.2 and sealed product has a 3-year shelf life when stored dark and dry at 2-25 °C.
