Biocomma® Frits for Affinity Chromatography (AC) Columns
Request a quoteOverview
Biocomma® affinity chromatography frits are made for affinity columns based on Sepharose 4B, which are widely used to extract recombinant protein, purify antibody or separate effective constituents. They sit at the top or bottom of the sorbent bed to stop expensive base material from leaking out.
The frits use hydrophilic UHMW-PE, so aqueous solutions wet them readily and penetrate quickly, whereas a hydrophobic frit would need pressure. Optimization for affinity columns gives a flow rate of 1-2 mL/min (1-2 drops per second) under gravity. Compared with similar products, the hydrophilic surface is reported not to absorb protein and to be less prone to air bubbles, which would otherwise slow flow and make the bed uneven. Flow rate still depends on sorbent particle size and uniformity.
Each production step is recorded in an ERP system for full traceability. Standard sizes run from 5.8 mm to 49.5 mm diameter, 1.6 mm thick, 50 µm pore, with custom options.

Wets readily with aqueous solutions, so liquid passes without applied pressure.
Delivers 1-2 mL/min (1-2 drops per second) under gravity; actual flow also depends on sorbent particle size.
Reported not to absorb protein and to resist air-bubble formation that slows flow and unsettles the bed.
Placed above or below the sorbent to prevent loss of expensive base material.
Each production step is recorded in an ERP management system.
Diameters from 5.8 to 49.5 mm; custom 1-50 mm, 1.6 or 2.5 mm thick, 20/50/80 µm pore.
Al-Shaker specifies the configuration, documents the system, and supports it across Jordan, the GCC, and MENA.
