Product overview
Brain Heart Infusion Agar is a rich nutrient agar for the cultivation of streptococci, enterococci and other fastidious bacteria. It is based on calf brain infusion (12.5 g/L) and beef heart infusion (5 g/L) together with peptone, glucose, sodium chloride, disodium hydrogen phosphate and agar, at a final pH of 7.3±0.1.
Suspend 52.0 g in 1 L of distilled or deionized water, boil with frequent agitation to dissolve, dispense into flasks and autoclave at 121 °C for 20 minutes. Dehydrated powder (GF1015F) and granulated (KL1015F) forms are stored dry and away from light and have a 3-year sealed shelf life.
