Buffered Motility Nitrate Medium is listed for the confirmation of Clostridium perfringens. It is a low-agar (3.0 g/L) medium containing potassium nitrate and galactose, with disodium hydrogen phosphate as the buffer.
The powder is suspended at 23.5 g per litre of purified water, boiled to dissolve, distributed and autoclaved at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Final pH is 7.3±0.1 and sealed product has a 3-year shelf life at 2-25 °C.
