Overview

Product overview

Coliforms & E. coli (ECC) Chromogenic Agar is used for the rapid cultivation of E. coli and coliforms. On the plate, E. coli colonies are blue and other coliforms purple-red, while other bacterial groups are colorless or inhibited, so both groups can be counted separately on a single medium.

The medium is prepared by weighing 32.8 g into 1 L of distilled water, heating to boiling until dissolved and dispensing; no autoclaving is required. The final pH is 7.0±0.2, and sealed product keeps for 2 years in the dark at room temperature. Reference photographs include E. coli ATCC 25922, Citrobacter freundii ATCC 43864, Salmonella typhimurium ATCC 14028 and Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212.
