Overview

Product overview

Cronobacter Chromogenic Agar is designed for the rapid identification and enumeration of Enterobacter sakazakii (Cronobacter sakazakii) in infant formula and other foods. The chromogenic substrate 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-α-D-glucoside gives Cronobacter sakazakii blue-green colonies, while Escherichia coli stays colorless and Proteus vulgaris appears colorless or light green.

Prepare at 43.1 g per litre, boil until dissolved and sterilize at 121 °C for 15 minutes, then cool to about 50 °C before pouring. The published reference strains are C. sakazakii ATCC 29544, E. coli ATCC 25922, Proteus vulgaris CMCC(B)49027 and Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212.
