Product overview
DRBC Medium is used for the enumeration of yeasts and molds in foods. Dichloran and rose bengal restrict colony spread and chloramphenicol suppresses bacterial growth, all in a peptone and glucose base.
The powder is prepared at 31.6 g per litre of purified water, boiled to dissolve, distributed and autoclaved at 121 °C for 15 minutes. The final pH is 5.6±0.2, and sealed product has a 3-year shelf life when stored dark and dry at 2-25 °C.
