Product overview
EC Broth is used for the detection of coliform bacteria at 35 °C and of Escherichia coli at an elevated temperature (44.5 or 45 °C). Tryptone, lactose, bile salts No.3 and phosphate buffers make up the formulation, with a final pH of 6.9±0.1.
Suspend 37.0 g in 1 L of purified water and boil with frequent agitation to dissolve. Dispense 8 mL per test tube containing small glass tubes and autoclave at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Dehydrated powder (GF1031F) has a 5-year sealed shelf life and the granulated form (KL1031F) 3 years, both stored dry and away from light.
