Request a quoteOverview
Gram Negative Enrichment Broth is a tryptone-based liquid medium used to enrich Gram-negative Enterobacteriaceae, with Shigella and Proteus named as the target organisms. Glucose, mannitol and a phosphate and citrate system provide nutrients and buffering, while sodium deoxycholate is included in the formula.
The medium is prepared at 39 g per litre of distilled or deionized water, heated to boiling until fully dissolved, dispensed into flasks at 225 mL each and autoclaved at 115 °C for 15 minutes. The final pH is 7.0 ± 0.2.
It is offered both as a dehydrated powder (GF1030F) and a granulated version (KL1030F) with the same published composition. It is not intended for clinical use.
