Product overview
Lactose Fermentation Broth is used for the coliform confirmation test. The formulation is deliberately simple: peptone (20 g/L), lactose (10 g/L) and cresyl purple (0.01 g/L), at a final pH of 7.2±0.2.
Suspend 30.0 g in 1 L of distilled or deionized water, boil with frequent agitation to dissolve and dispense into test tubes with small inverted tubes, 9 mL per tube (3 mL per tube when testing drugs). Autoclave at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Dehydrated powder (GF1053F) has a 5-year sealed shelf life and the granulated form (KL1053F) 3 years.
