Request a quoteOverview
Lauryl Sulfate Tryptose Broth is used for the detection of coliform organisms in the presumptive phase of the Standard Total Coliform Multiple-Tube (MPN) Test. The formula combines 20.0 g/L tryptone with lactose, sodium chloride, a dipotassium and monopotassium phosphate buffer and 0.1 g/L sodium lauryl sulfate.
Suspend 35.6 g in 1 L of purified water, heat with frequent agitation and boil until the powder dissolves, then autoclave at 121 °C for 15 minutes. The final pH is 6.8 ± 0.2.
Dehydrated powder (GF1026F) and granulated (KL1026F) versions share one composition and a 5-year sealed shelf life, stored in a dark, dry place at 2-25 °C. The product is not for clinical use.
