Product overview
LB Agar (Lennox) is used for cultivating Escherichia coli in molecular biology experiments. The pH 7.0 version suits general bacterial culture, strain maintenance and routine laboratory use, while the pH 7.5 version is optimised for molecular cloning, plasmid preparation, high-density E. coli culture and protein expression.
Tryptone and yeast extract provide nitrogen sources, vitamins and growth factors, sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance and agar sets the medium. Both versions are prepared at 35.0 g per litre of purified water and autoclaved.
