Request a quoteOverview
Modified Lauryl Sulfate Tryptone Broth Base is used for the selective enrichment of Cronobacter, also called Enterobacter sakazakii. The formula combines 20 g/L tryptone with a high sodium chloride level (34 g/L), lactose, a phosphate buffer and 0.1 g/L sodium lauryl sulfate.
Suspend 64.6 g in 1 L of distilled or deionized water, boil with frequent agitation until dissolved and autoclave at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Cool the medium to about 30 °C, add one supporting reagent per 100 mL of basic culture medium, mix and set aside. The final pH is 6.8 ± 0.2.
Powder (GF1041F) and granulated (KL1041F) versions share one composition and a 3-year sealed shelf life. Not for clinical use.
