Request a quoteOverview
Modified Semisolid Rappaport Vassiliadis Medium (MSRV) Base is the base version of MSRV, used for the detection of motile Salmonella species from food and environmental samples. It shares the MSRV formula (2.7 g/L agar, 10.9 g/L anhydrous magnesium chloride, 0.04 g/L malachite green oxalate) but is supplied without novobiocin, which is added from a supplement. The source lists ISO 6579 and ISO 11133 as standards.
Suspend 31.6 g in 1 L of purified water, heat with frequent agitation and boil until dissolved, avoiding overheating, and do not autoclave. Cool to about 50 °C, add one tube of supplement (5 mg novobiocin sodium salt) per 500 mL of base medium, mix well and pour into sterile Petri dishes. The final pH is 5.1-5.4.
Sealed shelf life is 3 years, stored in a dark, dry place at 2-25 °C. Not for clinical use.
