Motility Test Medium
Request a quoteOverview
Motility Test Medium is a soft-agar medium built from peptone, beef extract and sodium chloride with only 4 g/L of agar. The low agar content keeps the gel semi-solid so that motile bacteria can spread away from the inoculation line, which is how the medium is used for motility observation. It is also listed for strain preservation.
Prepare it by dissolving 22 g in 1 L of distilled or deionized water with heating and stirring, dispense into test tubes and autoclave at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Let the tubes solidify in an upright position. The final pH is 7.4 ± 0.2.
Both a dehydrated powder (GF1054F) and a granulated version (KL1054F) are listed with identical composition. The product is not for clinical use.
