Product overview
PALCAM Agar Base is used for the selective isolation and culture of Listeria monocytogenes, and the source lists ISO 11290 in its standards field. The base combines peptone, starch and yeast extract with 15 g/L lithium chloride, mannitol, esculin, ammonium ferric citrate and phenol red.
Suspend 73.9 g in 1 L of purified water, boil with frequent agitation until dissolved, dispense and autoclave at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Cool to below 50 °C and aseptically add one vial of Supplement (Cat. TJ011F) per 100 mL of base medium, then mix well. The final pH is 7.2 ± 0.2.
Powder (GF1036F) and granulated (KL1036F) versions share one formula and a 3-year sealed shelf life. The product is not for clinical use.
