Product overview
R2A Agar is a nutrient-poor medium listed for the total aerobe count in treated waters (CP/EP/USP). Its formulation combines low levels of yeast extract, peptone, casein hydrolysate, glucose and soluble starch, with sodium pyruvate, dipotassium hydrogen phosphate and magnesium sulfate.
The dehydrated powder is prepared at 18.1 g per litre of purified water, boiled to dissolve and autoclaved at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Final pH is 7.2±0.2, and sealed product has a 5-year shelf life at 2-25 °C.
