Rappaport Vassiliadis Soya Broth (RVS) is a selective enrichment medium for Salmonella, and the source indicates it is intended for ISO-type procedures. It contains soy peptone, sodium chloride, phosphate buffer, 13.4 g/L anhydrous magnesium chloride and 0.036 g/L malachite green, with a final pH of 5.2 ± 0.2.
Suspend 26.6 g in 1 L of distilled or deionized water, heat with frequent agitation and boil to dissolve, then dispense into conical flasks and autoclave at 115 °C for 15 minutes.
Powder (GF1184F) and granulated (KL1184F) forms are listed with identical composition and a 3-year sealed shelf life. The product is not for clinical use.
