Request a quoteOverview
Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) is used for the cultivation of yeasts and molds. Its core formula is a 1:1 mixture of peptic digest of animal tissue and pancreatic digest of casein, 40.0 g/L dextrose and 15.0 g/L agar, giving a low final pH of 5.6 ± 0.2. The GF607F listing references CP, EP and USP, and the KL607F listing references CP, EP, USP and ISO.
The standard versions (GF1098F, GF607F, KL607F) use 65.0 g per litre of purified water, boiled to dissolve, then distributed and autoclaved at 121 °C for 15 minutes. GF1098AF is the chloramphenicol version: it uses 70.1 g per litre, contains 0.1 g/L chloramphenicol and 20.0 g/L agar, is autoclaved at 115 °C for 15 minutes, and is also described for detecting the total number of fungal colonies in disposable sanitary products.
Sealed shelf life is 5 years for the GF codes and 3 years for KL607F. The granulated listing publishes slightly different component quantities, so its composition is not repeated here. Not for clinical use.
