Saline Tryptone Soya Agar is a tryptone and soy peptone agar with 30.0 g/L sodium chloride, listed for the purification and cultivation of Vibrio. The raised salt level suits halophilic organisms such as Vibrio.
The powder is prepared at 65.0 g per litre of purified water, boiled to dissolve, distributed and autoclaved at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Final pH is 7.3±0.2 and sealed product has a 3-year shelf life when stored dark and dry at 2-25 °C.
