Request a quoteOverview
Sodium Malonate Medium is used to determine whether bacteria can use sodium malonate as a carbon source for growth. Sodium malonate (3.0 g/L) is the key substrate, with ammonium sulfate as nitrogen source, phosphates as buffer and bromothymol blue as the indicator.
The powder is prepared at 9.3 g per litre of purified water, boiled to dissolve, dispensed into test tubes and autoclaved at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Final pH is 6.8±0.2 and sealed product has a 3-year shelf life at 2-25 °C.
