Product overview
Synthetic Complete (SC) medium is used for the selective cultivation and screening of yeast strains with specific amino acid auxotrophies. It is especially suited to experiments that are sensitive to dextrose caramelisation and need high precision.
The medium contains no carbon source, so it can be supplemented with glucose, galactose, raffinose, fructose or sucrose as the experiment requires. It consists of YNB, amino acids and nucleotides: YNB provides growth factors and salts, ammonium sulfate is the nitrogen source, and the DO supplement selectively omits nutrients to create auxotrophic selection or reporter activation. Dextrose is added after sterilisation.
