Product overview
Synthetic defined (SD) medium is a fully synthetic yeast medium made of YNB, dextrose, 11 amino acids and nucleotide molecules. Each SD premix lacks one or more specific nutrients, which allows selection of yeast strains able to express the missing component or in which a matching reporter gene is activated.
The premixes are used for cultivating Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Pichia pastoris. YNB provides growth factors and inorganic salts, ammonium sulfate serves as the nitrogen source and dextrose as the fermentable carbon source. Suspend one 24 g bag in 500 mL of distilled water and sterilise.
