Request a quoteOverview
Triple Sugar Iron Agar is used for biochemical identification of Salmonella and other Enterobacteriaceae. It combines lactose, sucrose and glucose with an iron salt and sodium thiosulfate and phenol red as the indicator, and is poured as slants with deep butts in test tubes. The GF1012F listing references ISO 6579.
The powder (GF1012F) and granulated (KL1012F) versions have somewhat different published formulas and are therefore described separately in the specifications. GF1012F uses 64.6 g/L, autoclaved at 121 °C for 15 minutes, with beef extract 3.0, yeast extract 3.0 and peptone 20.0 g/L. KL1012F uses 63.4 g/L, autoclaved at 115 °C for 15 minutes, with peptone 20.0 and beef extract 5.0 g/L and ammonium ferrous sulfate as the iron source. Both end at pH 7.4 ± 0.2.
After autoclaving, tubes are cooled in a slanted position. Sealed shelf life is 3 years. Not for clinical use.
