These disposable 14 mL tubes are used for microbial cultivation, cell suspension culture and sample preservation. The dual-position PE cap can be turned to adjust tightness: when loosened it allows gas exchange for aerobic cultivation of organisms such as Escherichia coli, yeast, Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

When fully tightened the cap forms a sealed environment suited to anaerobic cultivation of organisms such as Bacteroides and Bifidobacterium species, or to short-term storage of cultures for 1-3 days at 4 °C. The tubes are polypropylene, round-bottomed, graduated, gamma sterilised and supplied sterile.
