Overview

Product overview

Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar (VRBGA) is a bile, glucose, neutral red and crystal violet medium. Formulation A (GF1066F powder, KL1066F granulated) is stated for identification of intestinal bacteria counts and Enterobacteriaceae and is prepared at 38.5 g per litre. Formulation B (GF615F) is stated for the isolation of bile-tolerant Gram-negative bacteria (CP/EP/USP) and is prepared at 41.5 g per litre, boiled for one minute.

Neither formulation is autoclaved, and both have a final pH of 7.4±0.2 and a 3-year sealed shelf life. Formulation B is stored at 2-25 °C; formulation A is stored dry and away from light with the cap tightened after use.
