Product overview
Yeast Nitrogen Base (YNB) without amino acids provides a nitrogen source, macronutrients, micronutrients and the essential vitamins needed for yeast growth. It does not contain histidine, methionine, tryptophan or a carbon source, so these are supplemented according to experimental needs.
It is prepared at 6.7 g per litre of distilled water, warmed slightly to dissolve and sterilised by filtration or autoclaving. Because yeast tolerates a wide pH range, the pH is typically not adjusted, and the grams per litre may be adjusted to obtain the desired performance.
