Overview

Product overview

YPD Agar is a rich, agar-solidified medium for the cultivation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Pichia pastoris. Peptone and yeast extract provide essential nitrogen sources, vitamins and growth factors, and D-glucose serves as the carbon source.

Suspend 70.0 g in 1 L of distilled water, boil to dissolve and autoclave at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Yeast tolerates a wide pH range, so the pH is typically not adjusted, although it may be set to 6.5 before autoclaving if required.
