SCION 8300 and 8500 GC

SCION’s GC chassis is the 8300 and the 8500, manufactured for laboratories that need 24/7 chromatography rather than a teaching instrument. The 8300 is 32 cm (12.6 in) wide with a two-channel architecture — up to two injection ports and two detectors, including a mass spectrometer — a 10 inch colour touchscreen in 16 languages, and electronic flow control on three channels at 0.001 psi resolution. It is the compact GC SCION specifies when bench space is the constraint and MS is still on the wish list.

The 8500 is the larger chromatograph for more inlets, a bigger oven, and detector combinations that will not fit the 8300. Both run CompassCDS, the 8400 Pro (100 × 2 mL vials) or 8410 Pro autoinjector, Versa headspace, and third-party thermal desorption or purge-and-trap. Oil-and-gas and chemical plants run them continuously; ASTM, EN, ISO, IP, and GPA methods are configured at the factory when the job is a standard analyser rather than a research GC.

Al-Shaker specifies 8300 versus 8500, detectors, and the sampler, then installs and supports the chromatograph with the same regional service as the GC-MS line.
