Overview

Product overview

The SCION 8700 Single Quadrupole is the GC-MS detector SCION puts on the front of its range: built for fast-paced analytical laboratories that need identification and quantification on the same platform. It supports electron ionisation and chemical ionisation, and mounts on the SCION 8300 or 8500 GC as a dedicated GC-MS or as an additional detector on a multi-channel chromatograph.

The ion path drops lenses and apertures to cut ion losses and leave fewer surfaces to contaminate. An EDR detector covers trace components and high-abundance peaks in one scan, so library search and quantitation sit in the same run. A high-capacity turbopump is specified for the fastest pump-down in this class. A 90° curved Q0 and 90° off-axis detector reduce neutral noise; helium active focusing lifts sensitivity on routine work.

Samplers include the 8400 Pro and 8410 Pro, Versa headspace, CTC PAL, and EST Flex. CompassCDS runs the method. Typical work is pharmaceutical synthesis and QC, chemical identity, environmental VOCs and SVOCs, and food residues.

Al-Shaker specifies 8300 versus 8500, EI versus CI, and the sampler, then installs, tunes, and supports the 8700 across Jordan, the GCC, and MENA.

Features

Key features

  • 01

EI and CI on the same detector

Switch ionisation to the compound class instead of owning two mass spectrometers.

  • 02

Trace and abundant ions in one scan

EDR detection keeps library-searchable spectra and quantitation together when concentrations span decades.

  • 03

    Couples to 8300 or 8500

Stand-alone GC-MS or a third detector on a compact or full-size SCION GC, with the same Pro samplers.
