Request a quoteOverview
Lysozyme is a single-chain polypeptide of 129 amino acids cross-linked by four disulfide bridges. It hydrolyses beta(1-4) linkages in peptidoglycan, which makes it useful for lysing bacterial cells, including as the lysing agent in the boiling lysis method for plasmid DNA purification.
It is purified from chicken egg white, crystallised, dialysed and supplied as lyophilised powder, with an activity of at least 22800 units/mg at 25 C. Stored at -20 C; 1 g, 5 g and 10 g packs.
