Laboratory gas generators and gas-handling systems in Jordan

A laboratory gas generator produces hydrogen, nitrogen or zero air on demand from electricity and air or water, replacing cylinder deliveries. Size it from the total flow of the instruments it feeds, add margin, and confirm the purity your detector requires.

How to choose: Laboratory gas generators

  1. 01

    Gas and purity

Hydrogen for FID and carrier, nitrogen for makeup and evaporation, zero air for FID. Check the purity level your method requires.

  2. 02

    Flow and sizing

Add up the flow of every instrument on the line and keep headroom. A single GC-FID typically needs tens of mL/min of hydrogen and a few hundred mL/min of air.

  3. 03

    Safety

Low-volume hydrogen generators store minimal gas, which is inherently safer than a hydrogen cylinder. Add leak detection for the room.

  4. 04

    Gas distribution

Regulators, manifolds, changeover panels and stainless lines keep pressure stable and prevent contamination.

  5. 05

    Running cost

Compare generator running cost (power, water, consumables) against cylinder rental, delivery and handling over several years.

Typical applications

  • GC, GC-MS and LC-MS gas supply
  • AAS and ICP gas supply and distribution
  • Solvent evaporation with nitrogen
  • Laboratory air supply for analysers
  • Gas-leak and toxic-gas monitoring

Frequently asked questions

Is a hydrogen generator safer than a hydrogen cylinder?

Generally yes. A generator holds only a small volume of hydrogen at low pressure and shuts off on a leak, while a cylinder stores a large volume at high pressure. Good ventilation and leak detection are still required.

Can hydrogen replace helium as the GC carrier gas?

Often, yes, with method re-validation. Hydrogen gives faster separations at lower cost, and on-site generation removes helium supply risk.

Does Al-Shaker install gas lines and generators?

Yes. Gas generators, purification, regulators, changeover panels and distribution are supplied, installed and supported as part of the laboratory package.
